For a home theater...

McIntosh MDLP2 projector

McIntosh takes the home theater experience to a new level with its latest high-definition DLP projector. The MDLP2 ($18,000) includes a hand- selected Texas Instruments DC4 chip set, which McIntosh says produces a significantly bright high-contrast image. It also features two HDMI 1.3 inputs and Deep Color capability, and it’s compatible with McIntosh’s optional LK1 anamorphic lens.

The MDLP2 comes with a vertical lens-shift function and two DC trigger connections, which can provide two independent operations. This means the projector can reconfigure for a dual-aspect-ratio projection screen when the source material changes from 16:9 to 4:3 or from 16:9 to 2.35:1. If you’re looking for an immersive and versatile home theater experience, this may be the projector to save for.

Snell Illusion acoustic system

Audiophiles will rest easy when they bring home a pair of Snell’s newest reference loudspeakers. The Illusion ($25,000 each) loudspeakers feature both external beauty and internal technology. Each speaker is crafted in an asymmetrical tapered shape, which adds to its aesthetic appeal and minimizes resonance and vibration. The D’Appolito array incorporates a symmetrical vertical array of three non-coincident drivers (midrange-tweeter- midrange), which is designed to create unmatched sound and clarity. Each Illusion is individually calibrated to match the master reference within a response window of +/-0.5 decibels. With the Illusion, Snell thought of all the details.

It’s easy to forget the little things when you’re in the middle of creating or adding to your home theater. But Tributaries takes care of your surge protection needs with its new swiveling eight-outlet power strip. The T8 power strip ($50) claims to be both practical and functional. It has six 180-degree swiveling outlets and two fixed jacks, so that you can easily add the power strip to any custom home theater setting. The T8’s surge protection benefits are also worthwhile; it has the capacity to protect against surges of up to 2,160 joules of energy and includes AC line filtering. When you want to bring your home theater together to the very last detail, consider the T8 surge protector.
